A Lot of Extra Aid
Steven Spielberg’s Saving Private Ryan is undeniably iconic, particularly for its depiction of the harrowing Omaha Beach landing. What’s remarkable is that the film relied on little to no CGI to achieve its realism.
Instead, it enlisted over one thousand extras and about two dozen amputee actors to participate in some of the most intense and horrifying scenes. The sheer scale of this endeavor raises questions about how Spielberg managed to coordinate it all while ensuring that Tom Hanks, the film’s lead, remained at the forefront.
