Unappetizing Cuisine

Ancient Greek (specifically Laconian) cuisine left much to be desired. One of their staple dishes consisted of a dark gruel, rumored to be a concoction of lentils and beef blood.

This particular dish, if it can even be called that, became the subject of jokes among Spartans and was often equated with Spartan bravery. It was said that only a true Spartan possessed the courage to consume this meal regularly. It’s a sentiment we can certainly understand!
