The Swan Princess
Undoubtedly, one of the most iconic dresses in red-carpet history is the one that stole the spotlight at the 2001 Academy Awards. Designed by Marjan Pejoski, the dress was famously worn by the Icelandic singer Bjork. Interestingly, this dress has become more synonymous with Bjork’s image than her music.
Affectionately known as “The Swan Princess,” Pejoski’s creation was ingeniously designed to resemble a swan wrapped around Bjork’s neck. While the dress garnered significant attention and admiration from some, it also faced criticism from fashion critics. Nevertheless, the Academy Awards appearance catapulted the dress to iconic status. In 2015, it earned a place in New York’s Museum of Modern Art, solidifying its status as a groundbreaking and unforgettable piece of fashion history.
