Kate Winslet

Despite the monumental success of James Cameron’s epic film, Titanic, which won 11 Oscars, Kate Winslet experienced a sense of dissatisfaction with her performance in the iconic movie. Ironically, while the film received critical acclaim and became a cultural phenomenon, Kate had reservations about her portrayal of Rose.

She was particularly critical of her American accent in the film, which she openly discussed in an interview with CNN. Kate candidly admitted, “Every scene, I’m like: Really? You did it like that? Oh my God.'” This self-critique extended to her entire performance in Titanic, making it challenging for her to watch any of her scenes. Fast forward to HBO’s 2020 show, Mare of Easttown, and Kate Winslet’s portrayal featured a flawless Philadelphia accent, showcasing her growth and evolution as an actress over the years.
