Two Sisters Failed as Queen

Cleopatra was not the only one in her family with aspirations for the throne. Her elder sister attempted to claim power during their father’s absence but met a gruesome end when her father returned. Her numerous marriages, designed to secure her position, ultimately failed.

The second sister’s ambitions led her to seek control over an island in Cyprus and beyond, but she too faced defeat and was delivered to Julius Caesar, who ordered her execution.
