Cleopatra’s Name is Greek

The name Cleopatra is actually a Greek name and not Egyptian at all. It means ‘Glory of her father,’ and it seems that her father would likely have been quite pleased with all of the things that she was able to do with the throne and the nation.

Her mother was also named Cleopatra, and her father was Ptolemy XII. The name was carried on even further with Cleopatra’s own daughter, one of the twins that she had with Mark Antony.
