They Shared A Liver, Pancreas & Intestines
An extraordinary and against-all-odds case involved a pair of conjoined twins from the Dominican Republic. Maria and Teresa Tapia faced incredibly slim chances of separation as they were joined at their lower chests and abdomens, making them omphalopagus.
This meant they shared vital organs like the liver, pancreas, and even part of their small intestine. Despite these complex challenges, the twins underwent a successful separation procedure at just one and a half years old.
