Many of us have fond memories of playing the computer game “The Sims” during our younger years. Despite the differences in technology and societal norms, spending hours each day on the computer and interacting with friends was still a popular pastime. For those who grew up playing the game, the mechanics and intricacies of the virtual world are second nature.
Even if you haven’t played “The Sims,” you might recognize this costume’s portrayal of a Sim character. The telltale green diamond above the character’s head signals that they are online and ready to play. As children, we often enjoyed pushing the boundaries and having our Sims characters do things they weren’t supposed to do. Whether it was creating a house filled with too many people or having our characters engage in illicit activities, “The Sims” allowed us to explore our mischievous sides in a safe and controlled environment.
