Poison initially made a powerful impact in the hair metal scene, wowing their fans with electrifying live performances that seldom disappointed. However, their appearance at the MTV Awards proved to be an exception to their usual success.
During their scheduled performance of “Unskinny Bop,” guitarist CC Deville mistakenly launched into the intro of their hit song, “Talk Dirty to Me.” The resulting blunder ignited a backstage altercation between Deville and lead singer Bret Michaels, culminating in Deville’s subsequent departure from the band.
