Puffin is a Delicacy

In Iceland, puffins are regarded as a delicacy. Iceland’s largest puffin colony is on Westman Island, making puffin a national dish. Puffin meat can be prepared with boiled milk sauce or smoked for consumption.

Puffins, often called the “clowns of the sea,” have a unique culinary tradition in Iceland. People even consume puffin hearts raw as a delicacy. Iceland has a substantial puffin colony, numbering 10-15 million birds. It’s worth noting that Iceland is one of only two nations where hunting and consuming puffins are legally permitted.
