Daydream Believer

Hemingway always woke at daybreak, claiming that his thin eyelids made his eyes highly sensitive to light. You’d have thought that with his genius brain and oodles of money, he might have bought some thicker drapes! He famously stated, “I have seen all the sunrises in my life,” and described waking up quickly, his head brimming with sentences he must express aloud or write down to clear his mind.

Sometimes spotted in yellow sunglasses, this habit might have inspired his famous phrase, “We are all broken—that’s how the light gets in.”
