They’re Watching Me

Ernest believed men were tailing him in cars, felt watched in the bar, and suspected two bank employees working late one night of being government agents auditing his account. It turns out he was right: The Feds had been watching him after all, and the agent following Papa reported to then-FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover; he said that Hemingway “was physically and mentally ill.”
