Writer’s Block
When the prodigious author reached his sixties, Hemingway suddenly found himself with a killer case of writer’s block that he was never able to shake. He was asked to contribute a sentence to a presentation volume for John F. Kennedy’s inauguration in 1961, but he could not come up with a single word.
Any writer who’s had the dreaded block will feel their pain, but this is Hemingway we’re talking about here! His inability to write shook him to the core. No matter how hard he tried, the words just wouldn’t come. He even cried and told a friend, “It just won’t come anymore.”
