#53: Go Home
This is an endearing tale of serendipity. The narrator’s grandmother found herself on a terrible date and sought the aid of her suitor’s younger sibling for a ride home. As fate would have it, this chance encounter led her to her future husband. It’s not every day that one finds true love following a lackluster evening, but it goes to show that anything is possible.
To make the story even more heartwarming, the narrator’s grandparents would frequently reflect on this event. The grandfather, affectionately known as “Pawpaw,” spent the next 55 years of his life caring for his beloved partner and ensuring her safe return home. Though he has since passed away, the memory of his unwavering devotion is a touching reminder of their love story. It’s difficult not to shed a tear at such a poignant tale.
