It’s not uncommon for Olympic athletes in the same sport to form connections, and shooters Kateřina and Matt Emmons are a prime example. Czech shooter Kateřina Kůrková, who competed in the 2004 and 2008 Olympics, earned gold, silver, and bronze medals, making her one of the most decorated athletes in her sport.
The couple met when Matthew Emmons, after making a critical miss, received a four-leaf clover keychain from Kateřina Kůrková as a gesture of encouragement. Their friendship turned into a romance, and they married in 2007. Today, they live between the U.S. and the Czech Republic, balancing their lives across two countries.
