Don’t Forget Tasmania

Tasmania, a small island located off the southeastern coast of Australia, tends to be lesser known than its mainland counterpart. Many individuals associate it with the character Tasmanian Devil from The Looney Tunes. However, Tasmania is a state of Australia, having been admitted to the federation in 1901.

Like the rest of mainland Australia, Tasmania has a rich history. Interestingly, Australians have affectionately nicknamed the island “Tassie,” in line with their penchant for using endearing abbreviations and nicknames.
