School Years Aren’t as Long in Thailand
In contrast to most countries, where formal schooling typically lasts around 12 years, Thailand’s education system is slightly shorter. Children usually begin their education at the age of six and progress to secondary education at the age of 12. In Thailand, compulsory schooling requires attending school for only nine years.
After completing three years of secondary school, students can discontinue their education. Nevertheless, many students continue to pursue higher education and attend university for an additional three years.
