#38: Speakerphone Isn’t for Public Spaces

Modern tools have made communication easier than ever, but some people have taken these conveniences and turned them into inconveniences for everyone around them. Speakerphone, for example, is useful when your hands are full or when multiple people need to hear the conversation — not when you’re walking around in public.

Unfortunately, some individuals use speakerphone everywhere: grocery stores, lines, waiting rooms, public transport. It’s disruptive, intrusive, and unnecessary. Not every call needs to be broadcast to an entire room.
