Largest Banyan Tree in the United States Resides in Hawaii

The illustrious Lahaina banyan tree, planted in 1873, has grown into the largest in the United States. It initially stood at a modest eight-foot height when it was first planted. Today, it towers at an impressive height of over 60 feet (18 meters) and boasts a crown that spans approximately 225 feet in width (about 70 meters).

This remarkable tree has produced aerial roots that have given rise to 16 new trunks, crucial in supporting this ever-expanding natural wonder. It is undoubtedly a captivating sight, with hundreds of intertwined trunks and roots extending over a quarter-mile in circumference.
