Bad Luck
Superstitions about flying are common, yet it’s rare for them to cause harm. However, a passenger on a Shanghai to Guangzhou flight delayed takeoff by throwing coins into the engine for luck, risking safety and causing a significant delay.
Nine coins were recovered from the area, including one inside the engine. There must be better ways of wishing for good luck than that.
