The Sun Bear: The World’s Smallest Bear
Malaysia is home to an exceptional inhabitant—the sun bear. Weighing 55-143 pounds and standing no taller than 4.6 feet, this bear possesses short, smooth fur. Its diet includes insects, fruits, and occasionally, birds and reptiles. It’s worth noting that Malaysia is also home to the binturong, a bearcat, although it is not closely related to either species.
While occasionally entering people’s homes for food, Binturongs generally display non-aggressive behavior, making them appear tamable. However, binturongs are not ideal as pets due to their inability to control their urination.
