El Cocodrilo: Cuba’s Aerial Resemblance

The aerial view of Cuba often evokes the nickname “El Cocodrilo” due to its resemblance to an alligator. The name “Cuba” itself has Tano origins, one of the native languages of the island. It is believed to be connected to either “Cubao,” meaning “abundance of fertile land,” or “cabana,” signifying “a wonderful spot.”

The country also carries another Spanish moniker, “El Caiman,” inspired by the island of Cuba’s distinctive contours.
