Internet Constraints
Since its inception in 2006, Reporters Without Borders has classified Cuba as an “Internet Enemy.” The Cuban government restricts access to certain websites, although this practice is not pervasive.
In recent years, there has been a relaxation of internet censorship. For example 2007, the general public gained the legal right to purchase computers. Digital media is now increasingly significant in disseminating information about events in Cuba to the global audience.
