Czechoslovakia’s Fleeting Revolution – 1968

Czechoslovakia lived under the oppressive rule typical of countries behind the Iron Curtain for years. However, in 1968, under the leadership of Alexander Dubcek, the people finally got a taste of freedom. Dubcek implemented several reforms, lifting travel restrictions, granting autonomy to Slovakia, and making other significant changes.

Unfortunately, the USSR disapproved, and they sent troops into the country to depose Dubcek and revert the nation to its previous state. The hopes and dreams of the people were crushed, but the memory of those few months of freedom would never be forgotten.
